The RD&E has been ranked as the top trust in the country for professional development by Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists for the support we offer to our trainees at the Centre for Women’s Health.
The training award ranks us as first out of 171 training units in the country for trainee professional development and also sees the RD&E among the top ten trusts ‘Highly commended for Overall performance’, ranked 8th overall.
The achievement comes following the collection of national training data via Training Evaluation Forms by the RCOG’s Specialty Education Advisory Committee, completed earlier this year. The indicators included in the survey include:
- Gynaecological Training – General, Procedural, Basic ultrasound, Overall recommendation
- Obstetric Training – General, Procedural, Basic ultrasound, Overall recommendation
- Professional Development – Education – support, supervision and local training, clinical governance, hospital processes and resources, working environment, behaviours experienced.
The results will be formally announced and celebrated at the forthcoming National Trainees Conference in Leeds on Friday 17 November 2017.
Dr Katharine Edey, Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist/College Tutor, said: “I am delighted that we have been ranked the top performing trust for the Professional development of our doctors in training. We have worked very hard to develop the education programme over the last 12 months and provide pastoral support as well as formal training. Big thanks go to all members of the multi professional team who provide a supportive environment and make the department an enjoyable place to train.”
