The Royal Devon and Exeter will be going live with the MY CARE electronic patient record system, and new clinical pathways, across all of its acute and community locations, in the early hours of Saturday 10 October.
Between now and go live there will be a lot happening. We will continue to test all the new equipment and devices across the Trust. Training is well underway and staff will keep practicing on the system right up until we go live. To prepare for go live, some areas have begun recording patient information on MY CARE as well as on paper or in our current systems.
We have a 1000 strong team of Super Users on hand to help staff during the go live period. What makes them “Super” is that they will be given additional training and opportunities to become more familiar with the MY CARE system and will know exactly how to get even more help and support if it is required.
Additional help and support will also be available during the go live period from our software supplier Epic, other UK hospitals that have already gone live with Epic and external teams in this area.
There is a Command Centre which will co-ordinate the go-live and will operate 24/7 for the first two to four weeks after we switch on MY CARE. It will have oversight of go live and work with clinical and operational colleagues to ensure patient and staff safety is not compromised.
For patients we will make sure there are staff or volunteers around to help you with any changes such as our new self check-in kiosks. From the 10 October you will also be able to register for the new MY CARE patient portal, or app, which will allow you to see information about your visits, hospital prescribed medication and upcoming appointments.
Things may take a little longer while staff get used to the changes so please bear with us. Your safety remains our priority and we are confident and excited about the benefits MY CARE will bring!
Go live is only the beginning of our MY CARE journey. Once we are using the system we will get more ideas for how to improve it and new applications we would like to use.
MY CARE is coming…RDE, set, go live!
