The RD&E’s MY CARE Programme is the single biggest clinical transformation programme ever undertaken at the Trust. It is also the first transformation of its type in the UK to be implemented across the acute hospital and community services. MY CARE aims to fundamentally improve people’s experience at the RD&E (including members of the public, patients, carers and staff), by better connecting care between our hospitals, community clinics and the care people receive at home. The improvements to services and support will be enabled by the introduction of a single, comprehensive electronic patient record (EPR) system, replacing the multiple computer and paper systems we currently have in place. Testing times…but in a good way!
MY CARE has reached a major milestone in its timeline – we have now begun the process of testing the patient pathways to ensure everything works as we want it to. We have the time now to change any elements we want to improve before it goes live.
Testing, is off to a good start, which is a good indication of the quality of the work completed over the last seven months. The Testing phase will continue until April 2020 when we begin training staff to use the new system.
Estates Improvements Underway to support MY CARE
The Trust will use new handheld devices, workstations on wheels and electronic whiteboards to enable staff to work in a more mobile way when MY CARE goes live. If you have visited the hospital recently, you may have seen the activity to put in place the cables, ports and electric points needed to make sure the devices we need are up and running ready for go live on 27 June 2020. Thank you for bearing with us during this work – we appreciate your support and patience. The initial six departments have had their estates improvements completed and we will continue throughout the remainder of the Trust, including community sites, from the New Year.
